The new Ashfield Aquatic Centre officially opened to the public

Ashfield Aquatic Centre is the largest recreation centre in the Inner West Council area, the $44.7 million project involves demolishing the existing facility and replacing with: • New 50-metre outdoor pool • New outdoor program pool with a moveable floor • New children’s leisure pool with landscaping and green wall • New entry building with gym, café, change areas, crèche and retail space • New sauna, steam and spa • New community meeting rooms • Green space, covered seating, landscaped areas and terraces • On grade parking. Brewster Hjorth Architects are proud to have worked with Inner West Council to deliver a successful project that can be seen both through is design as well as its ability to bring together surrounding community. Aquatic centres hold iconic places in Australian society," Inner West Council's senior manager for sport and recreation, Simon Duck, said on a tour of the site. "Not just for participation in recreation and fun but for socialisation with peers, family socialisation and inter-generational activities. "They're incredible hubs of community attendance with programs for all age ranges ... big numbers of 'learn to swim', big numbers of 'health and fitness', plus squads, personal training and exercise physiology."
